Virtual Reality CPR training

Who is Virtual Life Support for?

Virtual Life Support is used in a wide range of CPR training contexts — from laypeople and first responders to healthcare professionals. Rather than offering a one-size-fits-all solution, the platform is configured to match the training goals, setting, and required level of accuracy.

Virtual Life Support is typically used in combination with a physical CPR training manikin to support realistic hands-on CPR practice.

Below you’ll find how Virtual Life Support is typically used across different audiences.

Public & workplace

First aid training for the public and workplace settings

Training needs

  • Recognize cardiac arrest quickly
  • Start CPR with confidence
  • Follow the correct CPR sequence under pressure
How Virtual Life Support supports this
  • Immersive VR scenarios that place learners in realistic emergency situations
  • Focus on awareness, decision-making, and correct actions
  • Used in combination with a standard CPR training manikin, without electronic sensors or connectivity.

Virtual Life Support helps first-time responders move beyond theory and prepare for the moment when it really matters.

Typical configuration
These use cases are typically supported with the Standard configuration.

Education

Secondary, vocational and higher education

Training needs

  • Repeated CPR practice at scale
  • Preparing students for real-world situations
  • Supporting instructors with flexible training tools
How Virtual Life Support supports this
  • Suitable for classroom, skills lab, and self-directed training
  • Enables low-dose, high-frequency practice without constant instructor presence
  • Complements traditional CPR education with immersive, scenario-based experience
  • Training is performed on a physical manikin, ensuring realistic hands-on CPR practice.

Typical configuration
Depending on training depth and assessment needs, institutions use the Standard or Pro configuration.

Healthcare

Healthcare education, professional training, and emergency response

Training needs

  • Objective assessment of CPR quality
  • Accurate measurement of compressions and ventilations
  • Training in clinically relevant scenarios
How Virtual Life Support supports this
  • Uses physical CPR training manikins together with sensor data to objectively measure compression and ventilation quality
  • Measures ventilations when supported by the manikin
  • Supports advanced scenarios, such as in-hospital Basic Life Support (planned for version 2.3)

Connected Manikin technology

In this configuration, Virtual Life Support connects to compatible manikins, such as Laerdal QCPR models. This enables objective, sensor-based assessment aligned with existing clinical training practices. Support for additional manikins will be added over time.

Typical configuration
To meet the accuracy and assessment requirements of healthcare education and professional training, Virtual Life Support is used in the Pro configuration.

Enterprise training

Partner-led and bundled training solutions

Training needs

  • Scalable CPR training across multiple locations or customers
  • Easy deployment as part of a broader training or safety solution
  • Flexible configurations that fit different training depths and use cases
How Virtual Life Support supports this
  • Designed to be bundled with existing training, hardware, or safety solutions
  • Can be delivered in a streamlined setup or expanded over time
  • Supports consistent training experiences across organizations and regions

Typical configuration
Enterprise and partner-led training programs often start with the Essentials configuration and can be upgraded to Standard or Pro as training needs evolve.

Virtual Life Support configurations

Virtual Life Support is configured to match the training context. The configuration determines how CPR performance is measured and which scenarios are available.

Essentials

In addition to Standard and Pro, Virtual Life Support is also available as an Essentials configuration.

Essentials is a streamlined configuration of Virtual Life Support that includes a single CPR scenario. It is available exclusively through selected partners as part of bundled training solutions and is not offered as a standalone license.

Essentials installations can be upgraded to Standard or Pro, allowing organizations to expand scenarios and measurement capabilities as their training needs evolve.
