NL Important notice: starting September 15, 2026 the relatively complex procedure described below is no longer required to install Virtual Life Support on Meta Quest that is installed as a consumer device. The procedure below is only required when installing specific versions of VLS and are instructed to follow these specific steps. The standard procedure now is:
- Go to the Meta Horizon Store in your headset
- Search for Virtual Life Support
- Install.
The app will now be installed and should be ready to use in a couple of minutes.
Alternatively:
- Start the Meta Horizon companion app on your smartphone
- Select the search option (magnifying glass) and search for Virtual Life Support
- Select Download to add the app to your library
- The app will now be queued to install on any of the Meta Quest devices that you are logged into with your account.

Installation as a Meta Quest Preview App
Virtual Life Support may sometimes have to be installed on Meta Quest headsets using the Meta Quest Preview App mechanism. This is a way to distribute apps outside the Meta Quest App Store and may be used to install specific versions. You only need to follow this procedure when instructed to do so.
Step-by-step installation instructions
- Request access
After requesting access to the evaluation or licensed version of Virtual Life Support, you will receive an email invitation from Meta. - Check your email (and spam folder)
The invitation usually arrives within a few minutes but it may take a bit more. If you don’t see it within a few hours, please also check your spam or junk folder. - Accept the Preview App
- Click the link in the email from Meta
- Log in using your Meta account
- Accept access to the Virtual Life Support Preview App
- Install on the headset
- Put on your Meta Quest headset
- Open your App Library
- Find Virtual Life Support and install it
- If the app does not immediately appear:
- Use the search field and search for “Virtual Life Support” (or part of the name)
- Occasionally, a restart of the headset is required before the app becomes visible
Note: when you do not receive or cannot find the invite email from Meta, you can also go to the Meta website and login with the account with which we shared the app: https://secure.oculus.com/my/preview-apps/.
