License activation
Starting with Virtual Life Support version 2.2, a valid license is required to use the app.
When you purchase a license, you receive a unique license key. This key defines:
- The license expiration date
- The product tier (Essentials, Standard or Pro)
- The number of headsets on which the software can be activated
A headset must be connected to the internet during activation.
You can activate your license in two ways:
- Scanning a QR code
- Entering the license key manually

Activating by scanning a QR Code
The fastest way to activate your license is by scanning the QR code linked to your license key.
You can find the QR code:
- On your license certificate, or
- On this page after entering your license key

To scan the QR code:
- Start the app and choose Activate License
- Select Scan QR Code
- Allow the app to access the headset camera (required for scanning)
- Hold the QR code in front of the headset for a few seconds
Activation will start automatically.
QR code scanning is currently available on Meta Quest 3 and Quest 3s devices. Support for Pico 4 (Ultra) Enterprise is in development.
If the license is invalid, expired, or the maximum number of activated headsets has been reached, the app will display an error message.
Activating by entering the License Key
If QR scanning is not available on your device, you can activate your license by entering the license key manually.
- Start the app and choose Activate License
- Select Enter License Key
- Enter the license code using the virtual keyboard
- Close the virtual keyboard with the return key and then tap the green checkmark to activate the license
Please note:
- You do not need to enter hyphens
- The license key is not case sensitive
If the license is invalid, expired, or the activation limit has been reached, the app will display an error message.

After activation
Once the license is activated:
- All features of your licensed configuration (Essentials, Standard or Pro) are unlocked
- You can review license details via the License button in the Special Settings panel (gear icon on the Overview panel)
- You can deactivate the license from this panel
When you deactivate a license:
- The license is removed from the headset
- The headset is released from your licensed device count
- The app returns to evaluation mode

Offline use
License data is securely stored on the headset after activation, allowing you to use the app offline.
To ensure the license remains valid and up to date, the headset must be connected to the internet at least once every 30 days. When the app starts while online, license information is automatically refreshed. This ensures renewals, upgrades, or extensions are applied correctly.
If a license expires, you will be notified when starting the app. In most cases, renewals are processed in our system and applied automatically when the headset connects to the internet.
Evaluation version
Virtual Life Support includes a built-in evaluation mode which is activated when the app runs without a valid license.
In this mode you receive 5 fully functional training sessions (internet connection required).
During these sessions, almost all features are available. The only exceptions are:
- Connecting a external device via Bluetooth
- Generating PDF training reports via our website
After the 5 full sessions:
- Scenario configuration options are disabled
- Training scores and metrics are hidden
- Results can no longer be uploaded to the cloud
- A trial reminder is shown during training
A valid license is required to unlock full functionality.
Notes
- Activation and deactivation require an active internet connection.
- The headset must connect to the internet at least once every 30 days.
- QR code scanning requires camera permission on the headset.
- Activation will fail if the maximum number of licensed headsets has been reached.
You can enter your license key here to generate the corresponding QR code.
